The first letter to Timothy

This letter addressed to Timothy offers encouragement and gives Timothy advice about organizing the community of Christians.

The writer addresses public prayer, the appointment of leaders, urges providing help for widows, and discusses what a correct attitude should be toward slaves.  He also expresses warnings about those who teach things different than what has been taught by those who have been proved to be the most trustworthy leaders.
