The purpose of the second letter to the Thessalonians was, in part,
to clarify what had been said in the first letter to them regarding
Yeshua-Jesus' promised return.
The Thessalonians had been apparently been somewhat confused because
some other teachers had said that Jesus had already returned.
Some members of the community at Thessalonica had even opted out of
their responsibilities because they thought that if Jesus was about
to return, there was no need in continuing to work.
