Deuteronomy Chapter 17

You shall not sacrifice to the Lord your God any bull or sheep in which there is a blemish, any evil thing, for that is an abomination to the Lord your God.
If there is found among you, inside any of your gates that the Lord your God gives you, a man or woman who does what is evil in the sight of the Lord your God, in breaking His covenant,
and has gone and served other gods and worshiped them, either the sun, or moon, or any of the host of Heaven that I have not commanded,
and if it is told you, and you have heard and inquired carefully, and, behold, it is true and the thing is certain, such abomination is done in Israel;
then you shall bring forth that man or that woman who has committed that evil thing, to your gates, even that man or that woman, and shall stone them with stones until they die.
At the mouth of two witnesses or three witnesses shall one who is worthy of death be put to death. At the mouth of one witness he shall not be put to death.
The hands of the witnesses shall be first on him to put him to death, and afterward the hands of all the people. So you shall put the evil away from among you.
If a matter is too hard for you in judgment, between blood and blood, between plea and plea, and between stroke and stroke, matters of strife within your gates, then you shall arise and go up to the place that the Lord your God shall choose.
You shall come to the priests of the Levites and to the judge who will be in those days and ask and they will declare to you the sentence of judgment.
You shall do according to the sentence that they declare to you from that place that the Lord will choose. Be careful to do according to all that they tell you.
According to the sentence of the law that they will teach you and according to the judgment that they will tell you, you shall do. You shall not turn aside to the right or to the left from the sentence that they show you.
The man who acts proudly and will not listen to the priest who stands to minister there before the Lord your God or to the judge, that man shall die. You shall put away the evil from Israel.
All the people shall hear and fear and not be presumptuous any more.
When you come to the land that the Lord your God gives you, and possess it and live in it and say, I will set a king over me like all the nations around me,
you surely will set a king over you whom the Lord your God will choose. You will set a king over you from among your brothers. You may not set a stranger over you who is not your brother.
But he shall not multiply horses to himself nor cause the people to return to Egypt so as to multiply horses because the Lord has said to you, From now on, you shall no longer return that way.
Nor shall he multiply wives to himself so that his heart does not turn away. Nor shall he greatly multiply silver and gold to himself.
When he sits on the throne of his kingdom, he will write a copy of this law in a book from before the priests the Levites.
It shall be with him and he shall read it all the days of his life so that he may learn to fear the Lord his God and to keep all the words of this law and these statutes to do them.
All this so that his heart may not be lifted up above his brothers and so that he does not turn aside from the commandment, to the right or the left, so that he may make his days longer in his kingdom, he and his sons, in the midst of Israel.
